The Department of Homeland Security has announced that beginning May7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REALID-compliant form of identification to board any domestic flight—thisincludes all private air charter operations, such as those operatedunder FAA Part 135, like TRYP Air Charter.

What is a REAL ID?

A REAL ID is a state-issued driver’s license or identification card thatmeets increased federal security standards. Most REAL IDs will feature a starsymbol in the upper portion of the card.

Why It Matters for Private Charter Travelers

Even though you may be flying privately, the new TSA regulations apply acrossall commercial and charter air travel within the U.S. As of May 7, you willnot be permitted to board a TRYP Air Charter flight—or any other domesticflight—without a REAL ID-compliant license or alternate accepted form ofidentification.

What Forms of ID Will Be Accepted?

• ✅ REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card
• ✅ U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
• ✅ DHS Trusted Traveler card (e.g., Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI)
• ✅ U.S. Military ID (active duty or retired)

Planning international travel like a Bahamas weekend? You’ll still need a valid passport,even if you have a REAL ID. Passport applications currently take 4–6 weeksto process, so apply early if you need one!

How to Tell If You Have a REAL ID

Look for a star (black or gold) in the upper right-hand corner ofyour license. If your license doesn’t have a star, it may not be REALID-compliant. Visit your state’s DMV website to confirm or begin the upgradeprocess.
